The queer Referate of Graz are represented at the university student unions of the University of Graz (ÖH Uni Graz), the Graz University of Technology (HTU Graz) and the Medical University (ÖH Med Graz) and work together to make the best possible use of the available resources. In addition, we cooperate with the öh joanneum and the Department for Social and Equal Treatment Issues of the ÖH KUG.
We are students of various fields of study with different references to queer topics, who volunteer for queer people in Graz. Queers can be homo-, bi-, pan-, and asexual, as well as aromatic, intersex, transident, polyamorous, non-binary, genderfluid and other people.
We are working to provide information for people on the queer spectrum as well as for supporters and want to increase the understanding of alternative ways of living and loving in society. Creating a safer space at our events is also an important concern for us. Safer spaces can be physical shelters, but also an attitude in dealing with other people. The needs of people who do not meet social norms and are therefore affected by exclusion should be better perceived and accepted. This means that people should support each other, and we ask for respectful interaction with each other. Discriminatory behaviour of any kind will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
Get an overview of our activities on our Facebook – the diversity of it comes from the different interests of our members! You are cordially invited to get involved as well and to use your skills and talents, to develop new ones and to gain experience! Don't be afraid of an unwanted outing – it's only important to us that you want to stand up for LGBTIQA* people, not the why. You don't have to be queer to work with us!
If you've always wanted to know what it means to set up smaller as well as large events such as the queer Unifest or the CSD parade, you've come to the right place! From project management and committee work (see above) to the exchange of information with other organizations and further training, a lot is possible with us! For example, you can get to know social media platforms, launch new events or continue and revise older concepts. In any case, we are happy to receive support through input, ideas, and constructive criticism.
If you want to get to know us, come to one of our events and talk to us, send us a message on Facebook, an e-mail or write to the queer buddies.
